Dear Parents, Students, Teachers, and Community,

Athletics


Congratulations to all of our student athletes and coaches during the spring season! The following is a recap of their recent accomplishments:

Boys tennis came in third in the St. Ignatius sectional. Sectional doubles champions Alex Keller and Yahn Gawrit defeated Parker 6-0 , 6-2. Boys tennis qualified Alex Keller and Yahn Gawrit for state with a 6-0 win over Lincoln park in state sectional quarter finals.

Wrestling city champions Johnny McCarthy and Jake Davis will meet mayor Emanuel and the 14 other city champions on 6/5/13 at city hall.

In girls track the 4x800 team of Jackie Byrnes, Carina Coss, Alex Martel and Joanna Podosek set a school record and qualified for the finals with a time of 9.24.44. The 4x400 team of Jackie Byrnes, Carina Coss, Alex Martel and Imani Davis set a school record and qualified for the finals with a time of 3.55.9. Girls track 4x400 relay broke the school record again with a time of 3.55.27 and 4th place in the 3a track state meet. The relay team was Jackie Byrnes, Carina Coss, Alex Martel and Imani Davis.

Girls Varsity Softball beat Ag Science 11-1 and advanced to the city finals. Varsity Girls Softball won city and defeated Whitney young 6-2. Winning pitcher was A. Roman. Softball has won 7 city championships in a row and 14 out of the last 16!

JV girls softball won city defeating Taft 6-3.

Girls varsity soccer beat Evanston in the IHSA regional finals 4-1. Jasmin Carrera and Sophia Pavon each had two goals.

Sophomore baseball won 11-1 and advanced to the city finals

Clay Arts Festival


Congratulations to the Art Department for an extraordinary Clay Arts Festival! It was great to see so many people from the community come out and all of the activities were outstanding! Thank you to all of our hardworking art teachers, but especially to Amy Moore for orchestrating the whole event! Thank you also to Reed Flygt for organizing the drum parade and the West African drum and dance performance in the auditorium. It was also a great event! Thank you also to all of the teachers who volunteered their time in the dunk tank!

Freshman Alpha Science and Engineering


Congratulations to our freshman Alpha Science and Engineering students in their school-level competition for science fair. Our students out forth a great amount of work in conducting their research and we are all very proud of you. Thank you to all the Alpha teachers and parents who supported students in preparing for today’s science fair.
