Course Code: 43310 (Regular); 45310 (Honors); 45315 (Honors/Alpha)
This course introduces the student to the language of mathematics. Students will learn to use variables to describe patterns and numerical relationships. Students will learn to apply real number properties, perform operations on polynomials, solve linear and quadratic equations and inequalities, graph linear and quadratic functions and use appropriate mathematical models to solve real-world problems. The second semester involves the study of systems of linear equations and rational, exponential and radical expressions and functions.
This Honors Alpha course is offered to all students in the Alpha Program who do not have an algebra credit. The class provides those students with support on the topics of collecting and interpreting statistical data that are needed for science fair projects.
