Transferring to Lane Tech

Lane is currently accepting transfer students. Students should complete the online application by clicking here. The deadline to apply is May 8, 2015. Applications will be evaluated based on the information submitted. All decisions will be mailed to the address provided on the application. Please check to make sure the mailing address and email address listed are correct. All Applicants must be Chicago residents at the time of enrollment.

Students must have the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission: It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all documents are completed and enclosed in one large envelope before sending the completed transfer application packet to Lane Tech. Incomplete applications, faxed applications, and late applications will not be considered. Applications must be received by May 8, 2015 to be considered.

Incoming Freshmen

Lane Tech College Prep High School is a selective admissions school whose student body is chosen through a formula, which incorporates standardized test scores, academic grades, and the results of the entrance exam. Each year approximately 1,000 freshmen are chosen from more than 10,000 applicants. Students are encouraged to work with their elementary school counselor throughout the application process.

Test Dates

Test dates are scheduled for the following Saturdays: October 25, November 22, December 13, 2014 and January 10 & 24, 2015. Students must sign up for a test date at www.apply.cps.edu.
Walk-ins will not be eligible to take the exam.


Open House

Parents and students who would like more information about attending Lane Tech are invited to our annual Open House. Parents and guests do not need to register to attend Open House. At Open House, you will have the opportunity to listen to the principal speak, go on a guided tour of the building, receive an informational booklet, and be able to speak with teachers and counselors from all departments.

Open House is Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am for sixth grade students who are interested in the Academic Center (LTAC), and 12:00-3:00 pm for students who wish to attend high school at Lane Tech.
